Sports massage can help athletes of all levels improve their performance, prevent injuries, and recover faster. Regular massage can also reduce stress, improve sleep, and promote overall wellness. At Performance plus massage, I am committed to helping my clients achieve their best.
Each session is customized for each individual client. Below are a few techniques that may be used during your session.
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit for long periods of time.
Sports massage is specifically tailored to different sports and injuries. It is not a relaxing form of massage and can often be quite strenuous. It works by stretching tight muscles, stimulating inactive muscles and improving the condition of the soft tissue.
Myofascial release is a soft tissue massage treatment to help increase myofascial mobility and reduce pain within the musculoskeletal system. Myofascial is connective tissue that is situated under the skin and surrounds muscle, bone, ligaments and tendons.
Cupping uses suction cup therapy to create negative pressure that releases rigid soft tissue, drains excess fluids and toxins, loosens adhesion, lifts and smooths connective tissue, and brings blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.
Lymphatic drainage massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage, relieves swelling that happens when medical treatment or illness blocks your lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of your body to help lymph move to an area with working lymph vessels.
